Good afternoon,

I hope this message finds you and your families well.

As we approach the end of April, I would like to remind you that exams for our students will begin next week. This is an important time for all our pupils, and we are ensuring that the school remains a calm, focused, and supportive environment throughout this period.

Please ensure your child is well-rested, has a quiet space for revision, and arrives at school on time each day. A healthy breakfast and a positive start to the morning can make a real difference in their performance and confidence. More details about Y11exam arrangements, revision sessions to support the exams and other details will be sent to all parents and carers of Year 11 students early next week.

Our staff remain committed to supporting every student during this period. If your child feels anxious or has any concerns about the exams, please do not hesitate to reach out to their class teacher or pastoral lead.

Thank you for your continued support. We wish all our students the very best of luck in the upcoming exams.

‘The Day’ – Personal Development

As a school we have purchased a subscription to ‘The Day’ it is a rich and engaging online educational resource that turns news into lessons, articles, assemblies, debate topics and short videos.

It provides schools with unlimited access to activities that bring big global issues into the classroom through daily news written in-house, polls, videos, images, graphics, posters, translations and links for external guided research.

The package aims to inspire comprehension through challenging, rich texts, experiential learning, project work and the acquisition of core knowledge about the real world.

By making connections between current affairs and the curriculum, students are encouraged to become more actively engaged in their studies and more inquisitive, enabling them to develop cultural capital and the skills they need to be successful in the modern world and ethical, informed citizens.

Students are encouraged to investigate what is true and exposing misinformation enables people to make good choices and fulfil their potential.

Students / parents and carers can access the resource at home using the link below. We hope you find it helpful in encouraging discussions about topical news and events.

ASPIRE – Personal Development

Personal development is crucial for our students as it helps build confidence, skills and a clear path towards future goals. We have recently invested in package called ASPIRE to support students recognising what they already do, what they know and what information they need us to support them with. This is an online tool taking the form of 6 short questionnaires on: well-being, aspects of PSHE, online safety, careers, skills and extra-curricular activities. Students will spend a lesson on this during curriculum time and they will have the opportunity to make an action plan based on their responses. There will be a record of achievement sent out to students/ parents/ carers to share the progress that they have made at the end of the year. This is an exciting opportunity for us to capture student voice and we will use all the information to inform our curriculum and enrichment provision.

If you have any questions please get in touch with Mrs Halliday, Assistant Headteacher for Personal Development. jhalliday@chorustrust.org

Good news stories

Year 9 GCSE Photography Exams and Year 11 Art Exams

Miss Blackburn and Mrs Rimmington would like to thank our Year 9 GCSE photography students and the Year 11 GCSE art students for completing their 10hour exams this week. Their conduct and attitude have been fantastic.

Year 7 and 8 Take on the UKMT Maths Challenge

On Thursday this week, 120 students from Year 7 and Year 8 took part in the UKMT Maths Challenge. This is a maths competition where students from all over the country try to solve tricky maths problems.

The questions were fun but challenging and really got everyone thinking hard. Students have the chance to win bronze, silver, or gold certificates, depending on how well they do.

We are very proud of everyone who took part, and we’re excited to find out the results in a few weeks.

Sporting Success

We are incredibly proud to announce that Lexi, one of our Y10 students, has been selected to play ice hockey in the England Under 15 team in Lithuania in May. This outstanding achievement is a testament to her dedication, skill and hard work.

Even more impressively, she has been chosen as Assistant Captain for the tournament – a prestigious leadership role that reflects not only Lexi’s athletic talent but also the respect she has earned from coaches and teammates alike.

Congratulations Lexi!

We would also like to congratulate Gabriel, one of our year 7 students, on his great achievement in his Saturday JPL football team Evo Soccer have earned.

They have battled through numerous games including trips to York and Huddersfield and have reached the final of the JPL National Cup which will be played this Saturday at Bristol Football Academy. Gabriel and his team are the only team from Sheffield at his age group to reach a final this year.

Well done Gabriel!
