School Newsletter

Good afternoon,
Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Spring Bank Holiday and that the break gave families a chance to recharge before the busy final half-term of the academic year.
We’ve returned to school with energy and focus, and it’s been wonderful to see the children back in their routines and engaging with learning. This final half-term is always a vibrant and eventful one, full of opportunities for celebration, reflection and growth.
We are expecting an Ofsted inspection and have spoken to our children and young people about welcoming visitors to our school. We continue to work on our school improvement plan with a focus on continuing to improve teaching for all our children but especially those with SEND. This includes teaching and learning strategies to support reading and key vocabulary. We continue to celebrate positivity every day and look forward to the raffle ticket draw at the end of the year, reward trips and day to day praise. All our improvements will help children to be more successful and ultimately happier at school.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Working in partnership with you makes a real difference in the lives of our pupils. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Good news stories
Barcelona Adventure: Spanish and Sports Trip
A group of our students and nine dedicated staff members recently embarked on an exciting journey to Barcelona as part of our Educational Visits calendar and to promote using your Spanish speaking skills. This incredible opportunity allows students to immerse themselves in Spanish language and culture while also engaging in a variety of sporting activities.
The trip is designed to enrich students both academically and personally. Through guided tours, cultural experiences, and language practice in real-life settings, students are deepening their understanding of Spanish beyond the classroom. Additionally, they enjoyed sports training and team-building exercises, fostering physical fitness and collaboration.
We’re proud of how our students represented our school; more details of the sports results are below.
Y8/9 Girls’ football
After just two intense training sessions, our girls’ football team delivered an extraordinary performance in Barcelona going unbeaten, defeating two strong opponents with impressive scores of 7-2 and 7-5.
The team showed resilience and composure under pressure, remained focused and displayed great determination, with several well-worked goals and individual moments of brilliance.
Y8 Boys’ football
The team took a bus journey up into the mountains outside Girona where they played against Riells I Viabrea. It was a slow start to the game but with significant changes at half time, players changed positions and played out of their comfort zone, keeping the game competitive.
The second game was played against local club Palafrugell on a sunny late afternoon. There were several standout players during the game which held the Westfield defence together and kept the score count down to just 2-0. The students rallied around each other and found a little more fire in challenges and finished 3-1. Great teamwork was evident throughout!
Y9 Boys’ Football
The team had the opportunity to take part in two high-quality training sessions, where they worked hard to develop their skills, sharpen their tactical understanding, and bond as a group.
The boys showed great character and resilience in their first game. The game ended in a 2-2 draw – a fair reflection of a competitive and closely fought match.
The second game saw the team battling hard in the first half, However, after the break, the Year 9s came out flying. They dominated the second half with an impressive attacking display, securing a well-deserved 4-0 victory and finishing the tour on a high.
Overall, the tour was a brilliant success – a mix of high-level football, personal development, and unforgettable memories. A big well done to all the lads for their attitude, teamwork, and performance throughout the trip!
