Student support

The welfare of our students is vital during this closure period. Below is some initial information about what we plan to do to support them:

Pastoral support

If you need support or advice about any issues while school is closed, please use Weduc to message your child’s Head of Year or Pastoral Manager. (Search by surname in Weduc).

  • Year 7 – Mrs Page / Miss Dawson
  • Year 8 – Mr Dacey / Mrs Tyler
  • Year 9 – Mr Dacey / Mrs Kubon
  • Year 10 – Miss Suter
  • Year 11 – Miss Suter / Lister

How will school keep track of vulnerable students?

School will remain open to all students who have a social worker. We will be providing additional support to all other students who currently access Learning, Pastoral or Medical support in school. We will be writing to the families of these children giving details of the additional support that will be provided.

Who should I contact if I have safeguarding concerns about a student?

If you have any safeguarding concerns you wish to raise during the school closure please contact one of the below numbers:

07930453064

07903632298

07903632307

These numbers will be operational during normal school opening hours – 08.00 – 17.00, Monday to Friday. If there is a safeguarding emergency outside of these hours, please contact the Sheffield Safeguarding Hub on 0114 273 4855.

How do I look after my wellbeing?

We have a whole page full of various organisations, apps and websites that provide support on a range of issues. This includes support for anxiety about Coronavirus. You can view our Wellbeing Resources page here.

What should I do if I am worried about my health?

  • Look on the NHS direct website – there is lots of helpful advice about coronavirus as well as other medical conditions.
  • Go online at www.111.nhs.uk  and complete an online screening form.
  • Call your GP – your normal family Doctor.
  • Call 999 if it is an emergency.

Protecting students online

If students are at home and spending more time online, please do ensure that they stay safe. There are some great resources at: https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/advice-centre/young-people/resources-11-19s

But it’s also worth talking to them about this and checking in regularly about what they are doing online.

And finally…

Look after yourself, be kind to your friends and family, and work hard. Even if we are not in school, we are still all part of Westfield. All the people who look after your education and welfare are still here and working hard for you – so keep in touch and check your messages in Weduc and emails.
