School Newsletter
Good afternoon,
As we reach the final day of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly memorable and rewarding year at Westfield School. Together, we have celebrated achievements, overcome challenges, and continued to grow as a vibrant and supportive school community.
Our pupils have worked incredibly hard, not only in their academic pursuits but also in the way they have embraced new experiences, shown kindness, and supported one another. I am immensely proud of each and every one of them.
Thank you to all parents and carers for your continued support throughout the year. Your partnership is a vital part of our school’s success, and we are truly grateful for the trust you place in us.
Finally, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the entire staff team for their tireless dedication, passion, and resilience. It is their commitment that makes Westfield School such a special place to learn and grow.
Information for parents of all years
Westfield Community Display Board – Student Contributions Needed
We hope you all have a fun, relaxing, and adventure-filled summer break! Whether you plan to spend your days exploring new places, playing sports, trying new recipes, or just enjoying time with family and friends — we want to hear all about it!
We’re putting together a Summer of 2025 display feature in school and we’d love to include pictures of students doing something they enjoyed over the summer. Think beach trips, camping, baking masterpieces, sports tournaments, art projects — anything that made your summer special.
Send your favourite summer photo along with a short caption of name, form, and what you're doing in the photo (together with parental consent to use this in school) to enquiries@westfield.chorustrust.org
Thank you for your help and we hope you have a great summer!
New Westfield School Website to be Launched
We are pleased to announce that, during the summer holiday, we will be launching the new Westfield School website. When it is launched, the website will still be available at www.westfield.chorustrust.org and will provide up-to-date information, organised in a simplified structure to make it easier to find the information you are looking for.
The new site will continue to contain the information most valued by parents and carers, including term dates and calendar items as well as curriculum and extracurricular information. If, when you first visit the site, you find that it isn’t displaying correctly, this is a common issue with new websites and clearing the cache (CTRL + F5 or CMD, SHIFT + R on a Mac) on your device should rectify the situation.
We hope you enjoy exploring the new site!

School Day 2025/26
Thank you for your feedback about our proposed change to the school day. We have taken the decision to start at 8.30am and finish at 3pm. The gate will be open from 8.10am every morning. We are also moving to one lunch time for all year groups. One lunch time will provide the opportunity for extra curricula activities and staff supervision especially when the weather prevents us from going outside. There will be food available at break time for everyone. The timings of the day are here:

We will ask year groups to come to lunch at intervals throughout the 45 minutes to manage the queues. There will be dedicated space for packed lunch and quieter spaces for those children that normally have this provision. A programme of lunchtime activities will be published in September 2025. If you know of any organised activities who would be willing to come into school at lunchtime to work with groups of children, please get in touch, we will welcome their support and have put aside funds to support this.
Good news stories
Sheffield Get Active Awards 2025
The English Institute of Sport recently hosted the annual Sheffield Get Active Awards where primary and secondary schools are invited to celebrate a year of sport. This year one of our Year 9 students was nominated for Sports Leader of the Year. Alicia was announced as the winner on the evening and it was incredible to see the joy and excitement from both Alicia and her family. Well done Alicia, you have been amazing throughout your time at Westfield! We are all very proud of this achievement.
Sporting Success
One of our Year 7 students recently competed in the IIHS Cosmopolitan Cup in Madrid for Labeda Shakers. Zach competed in two teams, the Under 12s and Under 14s with players from Spain, Ireland, Switzerland and England and was successful in securing a bronze medal for the Under 14s. Well done Zach! This is a great achievement!
Halfway Junior School Sports Day
22 of our Sports Leaders recently assisted at the Halfway Junior School annual sports day in blistering conditions. The day was reduced to only half a day due to the hot weather, however they performed extremely well, encouraging students to try their hardest and were true leaders on the day. They scored on 5 stations on the day, helping students perform several athletics and sports events to try and score as many points for their hall as possible. Thank you to all the leaders for their hard work and commitment on the day, you were all fantastic and didn’t let the conditions affect your performance.
Halfway Infants School Sports Day
20 of our Sports Leaders went to Halfway Infants school to lead their sports day in glorious sunshine! Students were put into small teams to try and win as many points as they could on 8 stations. The Sports Leaders were in high spirits and truly showed team spirit, community values and were able to encourage students to try their best. All the leaders were fantastic, with excellent leadership skills and students had a fantastic morning due to the leader’s delivery.
