Catering
Cashless catering system
Westfield School operates a cashless catering system. All students for whom we have received parental permission (via the completed ‘Westfield School Student Data Sheet’ or Arbor) will have a biometric scan of their finger taken on their first day in school, or during Year 7 induction week. Students for whom no parental consent has been received will be issued with a PIN code.
The finger scan / PIN code allows students to purchase food and drinks from our canteen at breakfast and lunch time, subject to funds available on their account. Accounts can be topped up either by sending cash in with your child who can add it to their account using one of the top-up machines in school, or by using the online payments system, Arbor Pay. Students who are in receipt of free school meals have their account credited daily with the current allowance.
You will receive a letter explaining how to activate your child’s lunch account on Arbor Pay shortly after they start at Westfield.
If you are unable to access online facilities or make online payments and do not wish for your child to bring cash into school, we can alternatively arrange for your child to be issued with a ‘PayPoint’ card for their lunch account which you can use at any shop displaying the ‘PayPoint’ logo. Please contact school if you require this option.

Free School Meals
Your child may be entitled to free school meals if your family receives any of the following:
- Universal Credit
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- support as a family with no recourse to public funds (NRPF)
Applying is straightforward, confidential and saves you money every year.
How do Free School Meals work?
Your child’s lunch account is automatically and confidentially credited with enough money for their school meal each day.
During lunchtime there is no distinction made between those receiving free school meals and those who do not.
At the start of each school year, the local authority will check the eligibility of new applications for FSM and current pupils with FSM, after which all eligible students will be entitled to FSM for the full academic year.
Pupil Premium
Did you know that if pupils receive Targeted Free School Meals, we’re automatically allocated Pupil Premium funding?
This grant allows us to make significant improvements to the education we can offer in school, especially for our disadvantaged students.
