School Newsletter

Good afternoon,

As we come to the end of the third week of the autumn term, it is wonderful to see how quickly pupils have settled into their routines and embraced the rhythm of school life once again. Classrooms are buzzing with creativity and hard work, and it has been a pleasure to witness the enthusiasm with which our children are approaching new topics and challenges.

This week, we continue to build on the strong start to the term, with plenty of opportunities for learning and enrichment. I am especially proud of the way pupils are supporting one another and showing kindness and respect—values that are at the heart of our school.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support in helping to make these first weeks of term so positive and productive. I look forward to sharing more highlights with you in the weeks ahead.

Information for Parents/Carers of All Year Groups

Settling Into Routines

All our students have a paper timetable that should be in their planner inside a plastic wallet. If they need a replacement, they should ask their form tutor. Parents and carers can see your child’s timetable on the Arbor app. Our week A and B dates are shown on the school calendar under the ‘News and Information’ tab of our website. There is a sign in the window of student reception to signal A or B each week.

Lockers can be requested by contacting us on enquiries@westfield.chorustrust.org . Lockers are allocated for 5 years and can be purchased through Parent Pay at a cost of £10 for 5 years. Please contact us if you need financial assistance with this or anything else at school.

We ask that students do not wear excessive jewellery at school, this includes face piercings. This is for health and safety reasons. We will work in partnership with you as parents and carers to ensure that this is addressed in school.

Lunchtime

The extracurricular timetable is up and running. It can be found on our website under the Personal Development tab. We need volunteer adults to help us run a gardening club – if you or anyone you know could help, please contact enquiries@westfield.chorustrust.org . We would be delighted to hear from you.

Did you know that your child can order a ‘grab bag’ in form time each day? The kitchen will prepare the grab bag and deduct the funds from your parent pay account. ‘Grab Bags’ will be available at break for collection.

Youth Event – South East Local Area Committee

On Wednesday 24th September, 6.30–7.30 pm at Beighton Lifestyle Centre, the South East Local Area Committee (LAC) will host a special meeting focused on children, young people and young adults (0–24).

Our aims are to:

  • Engage young people directly in local politics and community decisions
  • Showcase the fantastic youth services and opportunities available across Sheffield
  • Encourage more youth voice in formal LAC meetings

There will be a wide range of services represented, including mental health and wellbeing support, youth clubs, sports, creative activities, apprenticeships, and opportunities to influence local decisions.

This is a great chance for young people to have a voice in their community, discover new opportunities, and connect with others.

Sheffield Giants Academy

Sheffield Giants are the region's American Football team, and they are on the lookout for new players.

They are looking for boys and girls aged 11 and above to try flag football (a non-contact version of the sport) and / or the real thing. Please contact them by email at academy@sheffieldgiants.com or visit their website at www.joingiants.com

Message from the Education & Childcare Commissioning Team – Parent Childcare Survey

We are asking parents and carers to tell us about their childcare needs and experiences of childcare by responding to our survey.  Parents / Carers views of the Government’s early years childcare support schemes and school wraparound childcare is important.

The more replies we receive the clearer we are of the childcare needs amongst families and where additional support is needed by parents to find places.

This year’s Childcare Survey for parents can be completed here.
