School Newsletter

Good afternoon,

As we settle into the second autumn half term, I want to thank everyone for the steady, positive start we’ve shared. This season brings a quiet shift across the school. The days shorten, routines strengthen, and our classrooms begin to show the results of the hard work students and staff have already invested.

A special mention goes to our Year 11 students, who are deep into their revision as they prepare for the upcoming mock exams. Their determination and focus have been clear, and we appreciate the support families are giving them at home. These mocks are an important milestone, and we are confident the students will approach them with their best effort.

We have also been proud to see pupils out and about during form time selling poppies as part of our annual support for the Royal British Legion. Their respectful attitude and commitment to this tradition reflect the values we aim to nurture throughout the school.

Thank you for your ongoing support. It makes a real difference.

Good news stories

Remembrance Day Observance

On Tuesday, our school community came together to mark Remembrance Day with a two minute silence. Staff and students who are members of the Scouts, Cadets, Guides, and other uniformed groups attended in their uniforms and stood with great composure throughout the observance. Their presence added a meaningful sense of tradition and service.

The two minute silence allowed everyone a moment to consider the sacrifices made by others and to appreciate the values of courage, duty, and community that continue to guide us today.

We would like to thank all students for the maturity they showed. It was a thoughtful and important moment for our school.

A Day of Dance and Achievement at Nova

Last week, our Year 10 and 11 pupils had an exciting opportunity to spend the day at Nova College, experiencing what it’s like to be a student there. Throughout the visit, they took part in a range of dance classes across different styles, learning from industry professionals who shared their expertise, passion, and advice about careers in the performing arts.

The day was not only inspiring but also rewarding. At the end of the visit, seven of our pupils — five from Year 11 and two from Year 10 — were awarded unconditional places on Nova’s prestigious BTEC Performing Arts programme.

This is an incredible achievement and a testament to the talent, dedication, and hard work of our students. It also marks a wonderful opportunity for those wishing to continue developing their skills and pursue their passion for dance.

Sporting Success

We are incredibly proud to share that Rebecca, one of our talented Year 9 students, competed this past weekend in a top-level trampolining competition representing Yorkshire. This was Rebecca’s first time competing at this level, and she performed exceptionally well — placing 5th overall in her age category!

To make the achievement even more impressive, Rebecca and her teammates went on to win 1st place in the team event, showcasing fantastic teamwork, dedication, and skill.

Rebecca’s success is a wonderful reflection of her hard work, determination, and passion for her sport. We’re all so proud of her and can’t wait to see what she achieves next!

Well done, Rebecca — you’ve made our school and Yorkshire proud!
