    Good afternoon,

As we wrap up another eventful week—one marked by crisp, frosty mornings—we would like to take a moment to acknowledge the tremendous effort shown across our school community. This week marks the end of two full weeks of mock examinations for our Year 11 students, who have approached each paper with real commitment and resilience. Their hard work during this important stage of preparation is something we are incredibly proud of.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all other year groups for their cooperation and consideration throughout the exam period. Their efforts in keeping the corridors around the exam halls quiet have made a noticeable difference and have helped create the best possible environment for Year 11 to perform at their best.

We hope they take the opportunity to reflect on their performance as they await feedback. The hard work they have invested will serve them well in the months ahead, and we are extremely proud of their efforts.

School Payment System – Move from ParentPay to Arbor Pay

We advised you earlier this term that we planned to move the school’s payment system across to Arbor Pay during the Christmas Holidays.  Preparations have been happening in school to get ready, however as we would like the switch over to run as smoothly as possible, we have made the decision to delay this until February half-term.

In the meantime, please continue to make payments for school meals, trips and items through the ParentPay website as normal. We will update you in the new year with further details and information.

Year 10 Students Lead Heart Dissection Workshop at Mosborough Primary

This week, a group of enthusiastic Year 10 students visited Mosborough Primary School to support the Year 6 classes with a hands-on heart dissection workshop. The session was part of an ongoing partnership between the two schools, aimed at inspiring younger pupils through engaging, practical science experiences.

The heart dissection was a fantastic enrichment opportunity for KS2 students because it helps bring science to life in a hands-on and memorable way. By seeing and touching a real animal heart, pupils can clearly observe the different parts they have learned about—such as chambers, valves, and blood vessels and understand how they work together to pump blood around the body. This practical experience can spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and build confidence in scientific exploration. It also encourages careful observation, questioning, and teamwork, making science feel exciting, real, and full of discovery.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 10 students for representing the school so well and for contributing to such a memorable learning experience for our local community.

    North Star Science School

Students from Year 8 and 9 recently attended North Star Science School event at Gulliver’s Valley.  The event brought young people, educators, scientists and businesses together to explore the future of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) in the South Yorkshire region. Students got to experience a range of workshops including building a car kit with CBE+, working on project plans for Gleadless Valley development with HLM Architects and designed their own country park with Harworth Group.  The students attended several careers talks on the day and heard all about drone technology from Rebecca Jones of Iprosurv and what it is like to be an apprentice design engineer at Airmaster. A great day was had by all!

Year 8 Netball Team Celebrate Outstanding Success!

A huge well done to our Year 8 girls’ netball team, who put on an incredible performance at the Netball League on Wednesday evening. The team won all three of their matches, showing fantastic skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the competition.

We would also like to extend a big thank you to the Year 7 students who stepped in to support the team—your contribution was greatly appreciated and helped strengthen the squad on the night.

The tournament concluded with a superb final game, which our team won 10–1. An amazing result and a brilliant effort from everyone involved!

Well done, girls—we are very proud of you!
