School Newsletter
27.02.26
Good afternoon,
Welcome back to school following the half term break. We hope all our families had a restful and enjoyable week, and that students are returning refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead.
It has certainly been a positive start to the new half term, with some welcome sunny spells, warmer temperatures and lighter evenings lifting everyone’s spirits. The brighter mornings and longer nights bring a real sense of momentum as we move further into the term, with plenty of exciting learning opportunities, events and achievements to look forward to.
As always, thank you for your continued support. We are proud of the focus and enthusiasm our students show each day, and we look forward to another successful and productive half term together.

Good news stories
Celebrating Isla’s National Success on the Ice
Over the holidays, Isla competed in a National British Ice Skating competition at the North East Opens, performing at Level 3. This is a significant achievement in itself, and Isla rose to the occasion brilliantly.
Delivering a clean skate, Isla successfully landed all three of her double jumps — an impressive accomplishment at this level. Her outstanding performance earned her both a Personal Best and a Season’s Best score, making the moment even more special. To top it all off, Isla secured a fantastic 3rd place finish in a highly competitive field.
Congratulations, Isla — we can’t wait to see what you accomplish next.
Year 9 Sports Leaders Shine at Points Network Games
18 of our outstanding Year 9 Sports Leaders took centre stage at the annual Points Network Games, held at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.
Our Sports Leaders played a key role in organising and delivering the event, leading, scoring and motivating primary school pupils through eight different activities set up around the athletics arena. The activities focused on developing essential multi-skills, including running, throwing and jumping, helping to promote physical activity and build confidence in sport across local schools.
Throughout the day, our students demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm, leadership and maturity. They engaged positively with a wide range of pupils from across the city, encouraging participation and ensuring everyone took part in high spirits. Their energy and professionalism helped create a fun, inclusive and inspiring atmosphere for all involved.
The students were a true credit to their families and to Westfield School. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school and the positive example they set as young leaders within the community.
Well done to all 18 Sports Leaders on a fantastic achievement!
Year 7 Boys Football Success
The Year 7 boys’ football team secured a fantastic victory over Notre Dame in the Sheffield Schools Cup quarter-finals and now eagerly await news of their semi-final opponents in the coming weeks.
It was a tense and closely fought match, with Westfield taking a 1–0 lead in the first half. The boys showed great determination and resilience after the break, working tirelessly to protect their advantage. Outstanding defending across the team, combined with some superb goalkeeping, kept Notre Dame at bay and ensured a well-deserved 1–0 win.
Congratulations to the entire squad on a brilliant achievement. Mr Lucas and the PE Department are extremely proud of your performance!
