School Newsletter

Good afternoon,
Next week will mark the end of a busy and successful Spring term before we break up for the Easter holidays, with pupils returning to school on 13 April.
This week has been especially memorable with our performances of Matilda The Musical proving to be a tremendous success. The talent, confidence and dedication shown by our pupils has been outstanding, and we are incredibly proud of everyone involved both on stage and behind the scenes. We look forward to the final performance taking place this evening, which promises to be another fantastic occasion.
Information for Parents/Carers of All Years
Message from Greg Fell the Director of Public Health in Sheffield- Invasive Meningococcal Disease (often called meningitis)
Considering the recent cases of invasive meningococcal disease reported in Kent, Sheffield public health services are reminding parents and carers about the importance of ensuring children and young people are up to date with routine vaccinations.
For secondary school and sixth form-aged students, we are particularly highlighting the importance of the MenACWY vaccine, which protects against four strains of meningococcal bacteria (A, C, W and Y) that can cause meningitis and sepsis. Young people this age should also have their Td/IPV vaccine (teenage booster which reinforces protection against tetanus, diphtheria and polio), and their HPV vaccine (which protects against human papillomavirus, a virus that can lead to several types of cancer).
It also crucial to ensure young people are fully vaccinated against measles, as we know the disease continues to circulate in Yorkshire.
Some students may have missed their vaccinations. Catch-up doses are available via GP practices or through the School Age Immunisation Service (SAIS). Local drop-in clinic information can be found here:

Year 9 students at Westfield School are being offered booster immunisations for meningitis, diphtheria and polio on Wednesday 15 April 2026.
Non-Uniform Day – Friday 27 March: Go Orange for Oscars
On Friday 27 March, we will be holding a non-uniform day in school, and we are inviting all students to take part by wearing something orange to support Oscar's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity as part of the “Go Orange for Oscars” campaign.
This charity is very close to our hearts as a school community, and the day gives us an opportunity to come together to raise awareness and show support for the important work carried out in helping children and families affected by paediatric brain tumours.
Students are encouraged to add as much orange as they can to their outfit — whether that is a full orange outfit, an orange accessory, or simply a splash of colour. We ask for a £1 donation, which can be made on the gate on the day or via Arbor Pay.
To find out more about the charity and the work they do, please visit https://oscarscharity.org/
Free Breakfast Toast Available Each Morning
We would like to remind parents and carers that free toast is available every morning in the school canteen for any student who would like it before the start of the school day.
We are aware that some children arrive at school without having had breakfast for a variety of reasons, and this can often lead to them feeling unwell, tired, or finding it difficult to concentrate during lessons. A simple breakfast can make a significant difference to wellbeing, energy levels, and readiness to learn.
