    19.06.26

    Good afternoon,

As we enter the final four weeks of the school year, it is hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. The weeks ahead promise to be busy and exciting, with a range of events, celebrations and learning opportunities still to come before we break up for the summer holidays.

This is always a special time of year as we reflect on the achievements, progress and personal growth of our pupils. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and grateful for the continued support of our families, which plays such an important role in their success.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. We look forward to making the most of these final weeks together and ending the school year on a high.

Thank you and well done – Punctuality and Attendance

Thank you and well done to everyone for their ongoing punctuality to lessons. Over 80% of the school were on time to every lesson last week. Well done to Y10 for their attendance at exams this week – it was the highest in the school and shows your commitment to your future.

    Year 11 School Leaving Age

Statutory school leaving age in England requires Year 11 pupils to remain enrolled until the last Friday in June (which falls on 26 June 2026). At this point, schools do not record attendance for our Y11 cohort School leaving age - GOV.UK

This is a real milestone in any young person’s life and we look forward to welcoming them back on results’ day on Thursday 20th August 2026.

Letter to Parents/Carers from the Active Travel Ambassadors

We are the Active Travel Ambassador team at Westfield School. We are working to improve the health and wellbeing of our peers and, this Clean Air Day, we are asking parents and carers to help improve air quality around our school.

Driving to school can feel like the quickest and safest option. However, when many families make the same choice, it increases traffic and congestion, which worsens local air quality as vehicles emit harmful exhaust fumes.

There is no safe level of air pollution. It affects everyone, especially children and young people. Air pollution is linked to asthma, lung cancer, heart disease, decreased life expectancy and other serious conditions. We want to improve the air we breathe to reduce these risks, and you can help by:

    • Car sharing with another household and/or dropping your child off a 5–10 minute walk from school. This reduces the number of vehicles and the fumes concentrated near the school entrance. It also helps improve road safety.
    • Switching off your engine if you are stopped for 30 seconds or more when dropping off or picking up your child. This reduces the build-up of toxic fumes in and around your car. You’ll also use less fuel and save money.

Thank you for supporting our health and wellbeing.

    Yours faithfully,

    The Active Travel Ambassadors

Win a Free Trip for Westfield School!

Through Hyundai’s Great British School Trip, parents, carers and guardians can nominate their child’s school for the chance to win an unforgettable, fully funded, one-night residential trip for up to 32 students.

We know how valuable school trips can be for children’s learning and wellbeing. Hyundai’s School Experience Index found that on trip days, attention levels increase by 80%, wellbeing rises by 60%, and 77% of children say it’s their best school day ever. Yet for many schools and families, cost can be a barrier.

The winning school will receive a night at an outdoor activity centre with return coach travel and food and accommodation.

Submit a school nomination (Parent & Carer)

Since 2022, Hyundai’s initiative has invested over £3 million in bursaries, supporting more than 200,000 children and reaching nearly a third of UK schools. Now in its fourth year, this is another chance for schools to benefit from an unforgettable funded experience.
