    26.06.26

    Good afternoon,

As we approach the end of the academic year, I would like to congratulate our Year 10 students on the excellent attitude, commitment and maturity they have shown during their mock examinations. We are proud of the effort they have invested and the way they have represented the school throughout this important period.

Thank you also to students, staff and families for their support during the recent hot weather. Students have adapted well, taking sensible steps to stay safe and comfortable while continuing to engage positively with school life.

It was fantastic to see our Year 9 students complete their Duke of Edinburgh expedition. Despite the additional challenge of the heat, they demonstrated resilience, teamwork and determination throughout. We congratulate all those who took part and thank the staff and volunteers who helped make the experience such a success.

Information for Parents/Carers of all years

A reminder that uniform will be back to normal on Monday as the weather is forecast to return to normal temperatures.

Thank you to all Y10 students, they have set a new record for the calmest, quickest and most efficient entry into an exam at 6 minutes – well done. The routine of entering the exams will support our young people and reduce their cognitive load at a time of stress.

Thank you to everyone for maintaining the focus on punctuality to school and in lessons. We will be contacting parents and carers with praise for those who are on time every day. Equally, we will share information about your child’s punctuality where we believe there is a pattern of lateness so that we can support and discuss next steps.

    Good news stories

    Sports Leaders

On Thursday last week, 30 of our outstanding Year 8 and 9 Sports Leaders played a key role in delivering the annual Brook House Junior Sports Day. Throughout the day, they led a range of athletics-based activities designed to develop and test the pupils’ motor skills, while also recording scores and encouraging every participant to give their very best effort.

Despite the glorious sunshine, our Sports Leaders maintained exceptional levels of enthusiasm, energy and commitment from start to finish. They were fantastic role models, supporting and motivating the Brook House pupils at every station and helping to create a positive and enjoyable experience for all involved.

A huge thank you to all of the students who took part. Your dedication, leadership and willingness to support others make a real difference to our wider community. We would also like to thank Brook House Junior School for continuing to provide this valuable opportunity year after year, the Head of School for his ongoing support, and Joe Denton for organising another fantastic day filled with opportunities for our students. Your support throughout the year has been greatly appreciated.

    Westfield School Choir

A huge congratulations to the talented Westfield School Choir for their surprise whole-school performance on the top deck this Wednesday. The choir delighted students and staff alike with a fantastic selection of songs, creating a wonderful atmosphere across the school.

Every performer gave an outstanding performance, with our soloists particularly impressing the audience with their confidence and musical talent. The event attracted a large crowd, who thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the performance and showed their appreciation with enthusiastic support throughout.

Well done to everyone involved for showcasing the incredible talent we have at Westfield and for providing such an enjoyable lunchtime treat for the whole school community.

Sporting Success – Sheffield Schoolgirls SFA Team

Congratulations to Westfield students Lyra, Beau and Eadie, who were part of the Sheffield Schoolgirls SFA team that won the Under-15 National Shield Final at Worcester Warriors Stadium this weekend.

The Sheffield side produced an outstanding performance to defeat Hyndburn and Ribble Valley SFA 3–2 and be crowned National Champions. This fantastic achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent shown by all of the players throughout the season.

The final also marked the last opportunity for the girls to represent Sheffield Schoolgirls SFA together, making the victory even more special. To finish their journey as National Champions is a fitting reward for their commitment and teamwork over the years.

Everyone at Westfield is incredibly proud of Lyra, Beau and Eadie for their contribution to this remarkable success and we congratulate them on this outstanding achievement.
