School Newsletter
02.10.26
Good afternoon,
As we reach more than halfway through our first half term, it has been another busy and productive few weeks at Westfield.
Preparations are now underway for two important events taking place over the next few weeks: our Year 7 Settling-In Evening and our Year 11 Revision Evenings. These provide valuable opportunities for us to work closely with families, share information and support our students as they continue to progress and develop throughout the year.
As always, thank you to our students, staff and parents and carers for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more of the many things happening across school in the coming weeks.
Information for Parents/Carers of all years
Year 11 Home Learning and Revision
Families of Year 11 students should now be receiving a weekly email on a Friday outlining the home learning and revision for the week ahead. This week, we have supported our Year 11s to create a home learning and revision timetable to support them with the successful completion of this learning.
Y11 Supporting Success Revision Event
We are delighted with the numbers that have already signed up for this event. It is an opportunity to try out revision strategies with your child, meet with subject leaders from across all subjects and also have conversations with the SEND and exams team about access arrangements. Our careers team will also be available to talk through Post-16 applications. We still have some tickets available for both sessions. Please use this link to book your places https://www.trybooking.com/uk/event/year-11-supporting-success-revision-event-westfield-school-123123
Year 11 mock exams
Year 11 mock exams will run from Monday 16th November to Friday 27th November 2026. Students who attend every day of the mock exam period will be entered into a prize draw!
Attendance Challenge
Yesterday we concluded our ‘September Attendance Challenge’ and celebrated with students via an online assembly.
62% of the student body have attended 100% of the time during September and as of this week, our whole school attendance is 92.5%. This is a significant improvement from last year and we are delighted with the progress so far. The national average attendance for secondary schools is currently 93.7%. Although we are not yet at this figure (or our school target of 97%) we are making good steps towards this.
Again, we thank you for your support in not taking holidays or making appointments in school time. Also, for ensuring your child arrives on time each day by 8.20am, is in full uniform and is ready for the day ahead. Please let us know if we can support you in any way by contacting us at attendance@westfield.chorustrust.org
Today’s winners received ‘Love to Shop’ vouchers and our top attending form group (7X3) will be having an extended break and free breakfast on Monday. Well done to them all. We are very proud.
We are now launching our ‘October Attendance Challenge.’ The theme will be linked to improving attendance as well as attending every day. The challenge will run from the 1st to the 23rd of October with great prizes to be won! We will keep you informed about how things are progressing.

Flu Vaccines
The School Age Immunisation Team will be visiting school on the 7th October to give the Seasonal Flu Vaccine to children. A single dose of the flu nasal spray will mean your child is less likely to become ill if they come into contact with the flu virus.
Consent is required to give your child the vaccine. When filling in the consent form, you will have 3 options:
- Nasal spray- This is the most effective way to protect your child from flu. (Please note: it contains pork gelatine.)
- Injectable flu vaccine - This version does not contain pork gelatine.
