School Newsletter
09.10.2026
Good afternoon,
It has been another busy and productive week at Westfield School. This week, we were pleased to welcome the school nursing team who delivered flu vaccinations to our students. We managed to vaccinate most students, and we will have a further catch-up session in November for those who were absent or unable to receive their vaccination this week.
As we continue through the half term, it has been great to see students continuing to work hard and make the most of the opportunities available to them across the school. Thank you, as always, to our students, staff and parents for your continued support.
Information for Parents/Carers of all years
Year 7 Settling in Evening – 15 October
We look forward to meeting our Year 7 parents and carers next week to update you on how your child has settled into Westfield over this half term.
The evening will consist of a five-minute appointment with your child's form tutor. Some parents will be given an additional appointment from the Pastoral, Attendance or SEND teams.
Please ensure you book your appointment using the ‘Parents Evening System’. Please use the remote login link on the school’s website at Westfield School - Remote Login and click on the Parents Evening System icon. You can book your 5-minute appointment with your child’s form tutor. If there is a requirement for you to book a second appointment with either the Pastoral, Attendance or SEND teams, this will also be open and available to book.
We ask that you arrive at school at least 5-10 minutes before your appointment to give you and your child time to sign in and find the correct classroom.
If you have any questions regarding appointments booking, please contact our school reception who will be able to support you in securing your appointment time.
Attendance Challenge for October
Thank you for your continued support with our drive to improve attendance at Westfield School. Our students have made a great start this month and well over 1000 students are still 'In It To Win It' with regards to our October challenge.
This month we are still looking for 100% attendance with prizes to be won for those entered in the draw on Thursday 22nd October. We are also giving all students the chance to win further prizes by looking at those who can improve their attendance the most in each year group. The most improved tutor group will also win some treats.
We are really beginning to see the benefits of our improved attendance and hope we can continue to sustain this. Looking at the data for the past two years, the attendance over the next two weeks has, in the last few years taken a real downturn. We ask for your support in ensuring that your child attends right up to our last day. We can assure you that learning will continue to be focused and productive.
Please avoid making medical appointments in the school day and taking holidays in term time.
If we can support, you at all with regards your child's attendance then please do not hesitate to contact us. attendance@westfield.chorustrust.org

Good news stories
Y7 Football Team
On Monday evening, our Year 7 football team played their very first match for Westfield School as they travelled to Tapton School in the first round of the Sheffield Cup.
The team put in a fantastic performance, playing with the confidence and teamwork of a group who had been playing together for much longer. Every student gave their absolute best, working hard for each other, encouraging their teammates and showing excellent team spirit throughout the match.
Their hard work was rewarded with a fantastic 2–0 victory over Tapton, securing their place in the next round of the competition.
A brilliant start to their Westfield football journey — well done, Year 7! We look forward to seeing how far you can go. Keep your eyes peeled for the next result!
Cross Country
On Wednesday evening, 10 of our students represented Westfield at the Longley Park Cross Country event.
Despite the glorious sunshine, the conditions were challenging, with a wet and hilly course testing the students' stamina and determination. All our students performed exceptionally well and achieved some fantastic results in their respective races.
A particular congratulations goes to our Year 10 student, Beau, who finished an impressive 3rd overall in her race, competing against students from Years 10–13.
We are incredibly proud of all the students who took part and would like to thank them for their hard work, commitment and dedication to cross country.
Well-done to everyone involved, and good luck to our runners as they prepare for the next race at Castle Dyke on Saturday 17 October!
Year 10 Boys Football
Congratulations to our Year 10 Boys football team, who have enjoyed an excellent start to the season with two impressive victories.
The team progressed in the English Schools’ Cup with a fantastic 6–0 victory over King Ecgberts’ School, before continuing their winning form with a 3–0 win against Handsworth School in the first round of the Sheffield Schools’ Cup.
