Westfield School ‘has undergone a significant change’ according to latest Ofsted report

Westfield School was inspected by Ofsted on 20 January 2026 and ‘has undergone a significant change’ with improvements seen across the board since its last report in 2023.
The report notes that the school’s pupils continue to benefit from a safe environment with a broad and balanced curriculum where they can enjoy a range of wider opportunities. It also highlights that ‘pupils appreciate that this school is improving and feel that staff want the best for them.’
Areas which have seen improvement since the previous report include:
- A calmer, caring, and more orderly environment reinforced by the Westfield Way
- A stronger curriculum, with more support
- The school is becoming more inclusive
- Stronger governance, pastoral structures, and behaviour systems
- A better careers programme and a wide range of clubs and enrichment
Gaynor Jones, Headteacher of Westfield School, said, “It’s been a year and a half since I joined Westfield School as headteacher and I’m proud of the improvements we’ve made for our pupils and our school community. We know that we are still on a journey of improvement, and we understand where our current strengths and weaknesses are.”
“As always, the feedback from Ofsted is helping us to focus on our priorities for improvement. We are working hard to improve the consistency of our teaching and assessments; to remove barriers and provide stronger support to enable all pupils to achieve their best; to further embed our behavioural expectations and improve our personal development programme; and to improve attendance.”
“We look forward to inviting Ofsted back in the near future to see the full impact of the plans we already have in place to ensure Westfield School becomes the successful, respectful, safe and happy place it can be.”
